Carrie Diulus

Dr. Diulus (called Dr. Carrie by most of her patients) practices “patient-centered” medicine rather than the traditional “disease-centered” model. She starts by identifying all of the factors that influence a patient’s health. This understanding is then combined with state-of-the-art surgical and medical care including complementary and integrative approaches to develop an individualized program for each patient’s unique needs.

This is the philosophy Dr. Diulus brought to the Crystal Clinic Spine Wellness Center in Akron, Ohio. Prior to joining the Crystal Clinic in 2014, Dr. Diulus was a spine surgeon in the Center for Spine Health at the Cleveland Clinic and she maintains privileges at Cleveland Clinic hospitals.

At the Crystal Clinic Spine Wellness Center, she and her team consider each patient’s unique physical, cultural, environmental, and social history when developing their treatment plan. They choose from a broad array of traditional and alternative medicine, including medication, physical therapy, surgery, injections and treatment for other medical problems, as well as nutritional counseling, acupuncture, supplements, social support, yoga and Pilates, sleep therapy, and stress management approaches.

The result is a program that partners with patients to address the myriad of overlapping contributors to spine pain and dysfunction. This enables patients to find relief from pain and disability and empowers them to gain not only spine wellness but also to take control of their overall health.
